The Receipts Index
Hype vs Receipts
The Receipts Index | Carter Enterprise LLC | July 10, 2026 Education only. This is not financial, legal, or tax advice.
Every card below shows a claim you have probably heard. Tap or click a card to flip it and see the receipt: the honest, sourced, dated reality, plus a tag telling you whether the claim is a FACT, a FORECAST, or an OPINION. The goal is not just to correct these seven claims. It is to train the reflex: hear hype, ask for the receipt.

The hype
"Crypto is going to make everyone rich."

The receipt
That is a hope, not a fact. The dated reality: the FBI's IC3 reported around 11.4 billion dollars in crypto fraud in 2025. New rails bring new ways to lose money.

Opinion
The hype
"Tokenization will be a 16 trillion dollar market by 2030."

The receipt
That is one institution's guess, not a fact. Forecasts range widely: McKinsey about 2 to 4 trillion, Citigroup about 4 trillion in securities plus about 5 trillion in CBDCs, ARK about 11 trillion, BCG with ADDX about 16 trillion. Today the market is about 335 billion dollars including stablecoins, and only about 33 billion of that is tokenized assets like Treasuries and private credit. The spread is the point.

Forecast
The hype
"BlackRock has 25 billion dollars in a tokenized fund."

The real figure is about 2.2 billion, and BUIDL is no longer the largest tokenized fund. Circle's USYC overtook it in March 2026. Our own research log once recorded it as 25 billion, a tenfold error. We corrected it to 2.5 billion, then corrected it again to about 2.2 billion. That is the rule: we fix our own numbers, and the correction is the point.

Fact
The hype
"The world's first trillionaire proves crypto works."

The receipt
Forbes named Elon Musk the first trillionaire on 2026-06-12, driven by the SpaceX IPO valued around 1.77 trillion dollars. His wealth is mostly locked stock, not cash. The lesson: the first trillion was not new cash, it was assets repriced the moment they became tradeable.

Fact
The hype
"AI gives reliable money advice now."

AI can be confidently wrong, out of date, or manipulated. The Receipts Index runs an ongoing Money Answers practice that grades exactly this. The early internal reading is low and not yet published, because it has not earned enough dated cycles.
Opinion
The hype
"Scams like that would never fool my family."
Tap to see the receipt
The receipt
The FBI's IC3 reported 7.748 billion dollars in fraud against people aged 60 and older in 2025, up 59 percent year over year. It fools tired, trusting, ordinary people.

Fact
The hype
"Stablecoins are just for criminals."
Tap to see the receipt
The receipt
Stablecoins were about 84 percent of illicit crypto transaction volume in 2025, a year when illicit crypto received at least 154 billion dollars. But illicit activity is a small share of all crypto, and stablecoins are also a legitimate way to move money. Judge the use, not the tool.

Fact
Seven cards, one habit. The next time a claim sounds too clean, flip it yourself: find the source, find the date, and decide whether you are looking at a fact, a forecast, or an opinion.
Real numbers. No hype. Receipts.
